Vietnam Moving Wall comes to Holly | News for Fenton, Linden, Holly MI

The Vietnam Moving Wall arrives in Holly from August 3-8, 2022. The project is sponsored by the Holly American Legion Post 149 and the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center. The movable wall has never been to Holly.

They’re hosting a Dinner-Improv fundraiser on January 21, 2022 at The Vault in downtown Holly starting at 7 p.m. The cost of dinner is $ 40 per ticket and $ 60 per couple. The Clarkston Village Players will provide entertainment in the form of an improvisation program including audience participation games. The Vault’s Cari Cucksey and his team will provide dinner and there will be a cash bar.

The Movable Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on The Mall in Washington, DC. The names of 58,281 US servicemen who were killed or died in Vietnam are engraved on the wall.

The Moving Wall comes to Holly via Vietnam Combat Veterans, Ltd. They are located in Michigan and have traveled all over the United States. The movable wall is 252 feet long. The original is 493 feet 6 inches.

The movable wall will be located west of the Richter campus on East Street. The opening ceremony will be on August 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. and the closing ceremony on August 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. There will be a welcome meeting for all veterans on August 6, 2022, starting at 1 p.m. no matter when or where you served, you are welcome to attend.

It costs $ 10,000 to bring the wall to Holly. Additional costs include a platform for the wall, a walkway, tents, benches, a mast, tables and chairs, etc. If you would like to donate, please make checks payable to American Legion Post 149 and indicate it is for the wall. You can drop off your donations at the Holly Area Veterans Resource Center or you can mail your donations to Holly American Legion Post 149, PO Box # 159, Holly MI 48442.
